Behind the lit sign on Hampstead House is a long room of black and gold stations, brass basins and carved mirrors, with a Roman colonnade painted the length of the back wall.
Skin fades, taper fades, scissor cuts, head shaves and beard work — clipper or razor. Wet shaves and head shaves come with the hot towel, and the Full Service runs cut, wash, shave, towel, face mask and blow dry end to end.
Regulars come weekly for the shave and beard trim. Waiting on the leather sofa, you get a hot drink and something sweet — and children and nervous first-timers get talked through every step before the clippers start.
